This planter is inspired by the Bwa Sun Mask. The circular face represents the sun and is used during dances to celebrate the farming season and bring fourth an abundant yield. The Bwa seek the aid of powerful natural spirits who live in the wild forests, bush country, and rivers surrounding their villages.
They create masks that make the spirits visible and put them in touch with their people. Dancing these masks on market days, funerals, and initiation ceremonies honors the spirits and brings forth their blessings.
There are three drainage holes located at the bottom of the piece. The inside is left unglazed.
